Pagliacci has always been one of my favorite operas. There is just something inherently heart wrenching and touching about a clown that has to put on a happy face to mask an inner turmoil of epic proportion.
I listened to this podcast of The Moth where Anthony Griffith recounts a heartbreaking time in his life during his rise to success as a stand up comic and couldn't help but to be deeply moved by it.
